Higgs Beach Park is truly unique on many fronts as it hosts the only shore-accessible underwater marine park in the United States and is also the terminus of the Florida Overseas Heritage Trail, one of only 31 nationally designated All American Highways in the United States.Īctivities available to park users include swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, beach volleyball, tennis, pickleball, and a beachside Children’s Playground. Snorkeling is a fantastic activity to enjoy here. The park encompasses diverse ecological communities along the nearshore waters of Key West’s south shore. It includes two vessel access lanes, one in front of Casa Marina and the other in front of the Reach Resort. Snorkeling off a beach is often disappointing, so it’s nice to get this update. There are a number of beaches along that coast of Key West that are part of the park. From its clear turquoise waters to its beautiful sandy beaches and its tropical vegetation, Higgs Beach Park is one of the most inviting public beach parks in Florida because of its diverse array of activities and offerings. The park is 40-acre area on the south side of Key West stretching from Higgs Beach to South Beach. Higgs Beach is included in the Key West Marine Park, managed by Reef Relief.
